Phu was born and raised in Cypress, CA and attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. He began his career at the Stockton General Office in July of 2006 where he was an agent for over 3 years. As an agent, he achieved Executive Council, a company-wide recognition program, each year he was an agent. In October of 2009, Phu was promoted to Partner, where he began to recruit and develop his own team of advisors. In his time as a Partner, Phu promoted 4 Partners and a Development Manager from his unit in addition to qualifying as a Top 50 Partner numerous times.

In September of 2018, Phu was promoted to Senior Partner, where he played a key role in the continued mentoring of his team of agents and Partner as well as spearheading the expansion of the Stockton office into the Sacramento Metro region.   

Phu was asked to join the South Central Zone leadership team in 2019 when he was promoted to the Corporate Vice President role in Atlanta, GA. During his time as a Corporate VP, he helped the Zone team develop over 137 managers in 33 General Office across 13 different states in the southeast region of the country. Phu was integral in developing the virtual recruiting strategies that were used companywide during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and also oversaw the Associate Partner program for the South Central Zone. During Phu’s 3-year tenure, the South Central Zone saw it’s highest increase in management performance.

In April of 2022, Phu accepted the Managing Partner role for the Las Vegas General Office where he and his leadership team work alongside the advisors to make New York Life Las Vegas the premier financial services firm in Nevada.

In 2023 the Las Vegas General Office had the honor of winning the Executive Vice President’s Trophy for New Org Retention leading all other offices in their group for proactive agent retention.  

Phu holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Nevada chapter of NAIFA and is also part of the board for the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce.

Aside from his passion for working with the agents and leadership team, Phu values time with his family and enjoys spending time with his wife Ha, daughter Gemma and dog Peach.
